Octopus Cushion- you crawled out of the sea...

Well, my laptop has finally given up, so I don't have a way to be tinkering with my vector files for horses, but had itchy fingers to get creative. I recently bought a second hand semi-industrial sewing machine, which has sat dormant for a few months...perfect opportunity...

I love octopuses and had some lovely blue leopard-print fabric left over from a jumper I turned into legwarmers...and I'm sure there's a blue octopus in the sea somewhere...

It's fairly scruffy, but I'm not really a sewer, so I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out :) The eyes are large bolts I normally use for horse's joints.

...and a painting I did today too...

Little White Horse

Latest commission, and weather too nice not to go outside and take photographs in! Stands about 25cm tall (without stand). Thoroughly enjoyed making him, sad to see him go but glad he's got a lovely home :)

More pics to show articulation.

And now for something a bit different...

Am I dreaming?

19in wide
24in tall
Acrylic on skip-wood

I haven't painted properly in a long time, especially anything of this size or subject... seem to want to do self-portraits around times of change... but then I've only ever done two. Or maybe all my work is a self-portrait...

Anyway, it's not finished yet, it's inspired by the idea of lucid dreaming, which I'm trying to train my brain to do, I'm going to work back into it a lot more with hidden images and abstract stuff, but I'm pretty happy with it so far :)

In other news, just confirmed the cutting of my new commission piece, along with some other bits and pieces and a little white Ratty (which I think I'll call LabRat) as it's been too long since I made one. Will take it round a few galleries and see what they think, I really do need to market myself better! Will get some nice images of the horse commission too... Ideal Christmas presents maybe?

So here's an image of what makes a Horse- like a 3d jigsaw puzzle :)

Carousel Horses, escaped from the fairground and living wild!

Finally got these finished with stands made using found wood and metal, they will hold their own weight on their legs, but I'd always recommend storing them for prolonged periods on the poles.

The Red/Green and Blue/Purple are intended to be sets as their colours compliment each other, but they are for sale individually.
